Privacy

Needles does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

Overview

Last updated: 5 November 2026

The App Store privacy label for Needles states that the developer does not collect any data from the app.

Needles has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising identifiers, or user accounts.

Everything happens on your device. Encrypting and decrypting files and text with age runs locally, and Needles collects no data in the process.

Keys can be kept on your device or synced through iCloud Keychain. When you choose to sync, keys move between your own devices under your own Apple Account, and Apple’s privacy policy governs that storage — the developer has no access to it.

If you enable Face ID before private keys are shown, the authentication is performed by the system. Needles only receives whether the check succeeded; your biometric data never leaves the device and is never available to the app.

Files you open from the Files app or other apps are read locally so they can be decrypted or encrypted on your device. They are not sent anywhere.

The developer has no access to your data and no way to identify users.

Third parties

Needles is distributed through the App Store.

Apple may collect download or usage information under its own privacy policy. This is outside the developer’s control.

Changes

Any updates to this policy will be posted at the same URL with a new date.
